Happy World Wetlands Day! 

Did you know that February 2^nd is World Wetlands Day? Though World Wetlands Day has been celebrated since 1997, the day was recently proclaimed a United Nations international day by the United Nations General Assembly. Wetlands are critical ecosystems which provide numerous functions, benefits, and services. However, globally, they are in decline due to rising anthropogenic pressures. Canada is home to approximately 25% of the world’s wetlands and therefore, plays a large role in the conservation of these ecosystems.
