NAWMP turns 40 years old!
Friday May 1
This year marks the 40th anniversary of the North American Waterfowl Management Plan, one of the world’s most successful international conservation partnerships. Established in 1986 by Canada and the United States, with Mexico joining the partnership in 1994, NAWMP brings together governments, Indigenous Nations, conservation organizations, landowners, and communities to conserve waterfowl and the wetlands that sustain them. Over the past four decades, this collaboration has helped conserve and restore millions of hectares of wetlands, grasslands, and other vital habitats across North America. As we celebrate 40 years of partnership and progress, we also look ahead to continuing this work to support resilient landscapes, abundant waterfowl populations, and healthy ecosystems for generations to come.
